## A brief that saves the edit

Three hours fits a conference half-day, an awards evening or a product launch. A shot list sent beforehand makes the difference: the speakers in order, the sponsors whose logos must appear, the VIPs to catch on arrival and anyone who should not be photographed. That last point has legal weight in the UAE, where photographing people without consent can be an offence; a consent line at registration, or coloured lanyards for those who opt out, makes the floor much easier to cover.

Hotel ballrooms in Dubai light the stage and leave the audience dark, so talks are shot without flash on high-sensitivity cameras, and flash is kept for networking and group photos. Ask the venue for access to the side of the stage before doors open — ten minutes there gives the best speaker angles. If the PR team needs pictures for a same-day post, the express 24-hour delivery can be added.
