## A shoot that fits around the holiday

This is the session for people who did not fly to the UAE for a photoshoot but want better pictures than the ones on their phone. It starts where you already are — the hotel beach, the promenade outside, a souk ten minutes away — so nobody loses half a day to taxis. Hotels differ on outside photographers: many allow a short private session, some ask for notice or charge for beach access. We check with the hotel before the date, not at the gate.

The beaches of Dubai and Abu Dhabi face the Gulf to the west, which makes the hour before sunset the natural slot: the sun drops over the water behind you and the light on faces is low and warm. In summer, sea haze softens that sunset; in winter the sky is clearer and the sun sets before six, so the session starts by five. Swimwear is fine on the beach and by the pool, but cover up for anything shot on the street or in a mall.

You receive 20 edited photos in a private online gallery within 48 to 72 hours — usually before the flight home.

## Frequently asked questions

### What should we wear?

Light, plain fabrics in sand, white, terracotta or deep blue — they hold up against both dunes and sea. On a public beach swimwear is fine; in a souk, Old Dubai or near a mosque, shoulders and knees covered. Bring flat shoes for walking to the spot: sand at 6 pm in June is still hot enough to hurt.

### Will there be strangers in the background?

As few as we can manage, and never recognisably. Photographing people without their consent is an offence in the UAE, so frames are composed around passers-by rather than through them — one more reason to start early.
