The route
On Jebel Jais we meet at one of the viewing decks along the upper road and begin with the two of you at the railing, the ridges stacked in grey-blue bands behind. From there the walk follows the edge of the deck, and if it is busy, moves on to the next one, where the closer, quieter frames happen. On Al Marjan the session starts on the sand with the sun in front of you; the photographer uses a reflector to keep your faces lit against the bright water, walks you along the shoreline, and finishes with silhouettes as the sun reaches the sea. Either way the half hour stays in one place on foot rather than a drive between several.
