The route
The day before, you and the photographer settle on one section of railing on the lake promenade — or a marked point on the Souk Al Bahar bridge for a sunrise plan — and the minute you will reach it. On the day the photographer is already there when you arrive, twenty to thirty metres off with a long lens, indistinguishable from any other visitor. You do not need to look round or give a cue: walk your partner to the agreed spot, and the shooting starts as the two of you slow down. The kneel, the ring and the answer are covered in a continuous burst. Then the photographer comes over, and the rest of the half hour becomes portraits — first close to the water, then a few steps back so the full height of the tower stands behind you.
